Session: Disrupted in Space: behind the scenes of Digital Connectedness
Zoom, TikTok, Facebook, Slak, Netflix, Uber, Twitter, Linkedin, TV broadcast, Natural disasters and Weather Forecast, Telemedicine, GPS, WiFi, Cashless payments, Banking services, Stock Markets, Remote working, WomenTech Global Conference 2020.
Can you guess what’s their one common element?
Telecommunication Satellites.
Space tech fuels our lives on a daily basis. Our digital habits and online businesses evolve at the pace of spacecraft innovation.
Humanity sustainable living and safety on Earth are guaranteed by visionary thinkers of structures, propulsion and thermal management systems – where the next groundbreaking hard-product must be developed faster, cheaper, lighter yet more powerful.
Spacecraft products must work for +15 years orbiting around our Planet – with no maintenance and no Customer Service; sometimes on +1000 satellites, simultaneously.
Think of uploading your next Instagram story – that’s actually rocket-tech science! Combined with strategic product management and hardware deployment, in the Outerspace.
Bio
Bianca Cefalo is a Space Systems Thermal Product Manager who enables Airbus Defence and Space UK to create and implement disruptive thermal management solutions for Next Generation Telecommunication Spacecraft.
After a childhood spent playing with spare parts in her dad’s garage and dreaming of tuning Formula 1 Ferraris, in 2010 founded 'UniNa Corse' - the first engineering Formula Student Team in Naples, then graduated in Aerospace Engineering at the University 'Federico II' of Naples, Italy.
Bianca has been playing Rocket Science across Berlin and London, contributing to the delivery of multiple Science and Commercial Telecoms Missions sponsored by NASA, ESA, DLR, UKSA and EU – including the landing of the NASA/JPL InSight Mars Mission.
During nearly a decade spent designing, simulating and qualifying innovative technologies that span from the Automotive to the Space industry, she has learned that – in light of the ever shifting Geopolitical, Economic and Ethical landscapes – what truly enhances Global market competitiveness is the ability to consistently entrust change, diverse communication and creative thinking at multiple human and organizational levels.
At present, she is cherishing every single minute in her Rocket Scientist suite and - as a STEM Ambassador, a Speaker and a Committee Member of the ‘Women's Engineering Society’ and 'Women in Aerospace' - she is pursuing her most heartfelt quest: inspiring and mentoring young girls across the entire Globe, to unleash their inner fierce STEM fire!
